About composer

While many musicians follow the rules, Chase Alan Willis finds new ways to bend them. He doesn’t just write music—he reshapes it, layering unconventional sounds and unexpected harmonies to create something entirely new.

Originally from Camarillo, CA, now based in South San Francisco, Chase has been immersed in music since he was 12, when he first picked up a guitar. His dad showed him the basic A-through-G chords, and from there, he was hooked. While others focused on mastering technique, Chase was drawn to something bigger—how sound could shape mood, tell stories, and pull listeners into another world.

Growing up in Ventura County, he played in multiple bands, always searching for the right chemistry and sound. The last band he played in before moving to the Bay Area was Royal Faces, where he drove the music with his bass. The band eventually dissolved, but their album remains on streaming platforms.

That drive to find the right sound never faded. Today, Chase is the singer, bassist, and songwriter for Euphorus Corpus Grievous, a traditional gothic rock/post-punk project that blends haunting melodies with an electrifying, shadowy atmosphere. The band embraces the theatrical spirit of classic goth while pushing its own distinct voice—spooky, dark, and irresistibly fun.

Beyond Euphorus Corpus Grievous, Chase’s passion for composition has only deepened. Over the years, his focus has expanded beyond performing—diving into the world of film and video game scoring, where music has the power to transform stories, characters, and entire worlds. Whether it's through cinematic orchestration, eerie soundscapes, or raw, unconventional compositions, Chase creates music that doesn’t just sit in the background—it pulls you in.

Now, he’s actively looking to collaborate with developers and filmmakers who want their projects to sound as vivid as they look. His compositions are immersive, emotional, and unafraid to push boundaries—whether it’s a hauntingly atmospheric score, an explosive, high-energy piece, or something that defies genre altogether.
His influences are as unconventional as his sound—Claudio Simonetti, Philip Glass, Raymond Scott, Don Joyce, and Mozart, to name a few. He doesn’t follow trends, and he isn’t interested in recreating what’s already been done. His goal is to build something new, something that sticks with you long after the last note fades.

And outside of music? He’s a devoted cat enthusiast.
If you need a composer who approaches sound with originality, depth, and purpose, Chase is the one to talk to. No filler. No formulas. Just music that makes an impact.
